Davis, Bill & Betty End for Basic & Applied Res in Immunology of Food & Companion Animals
This fund will provide financial support for the programs to further the understanding of the mechanisms regulating the development of protective immunity against pathogens and parasites and the development of new and improved vaccines in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology.
With the goal of expanding immunology research at WSU, Dr. Bill Davis has pledged an additional $100,000 to the fund as a matching gift. For every $20 you give, Dr. Davis will match $1 (up to $100,000). The goal is to reach $1 million to provide dedicated immunology research funds for researchers at WSU. Victor Burke Memorial Endowment
Dr. Burke came to Washington State College in 1921 as an Assistant Professor of Bacteriology within the Botany Department. He became Professor of Bacteriology in 1924 and in 1925 was made Head of the Department of Bacteriology, a position he held for the following 22 years. The first Ph.D. degree granted by WSC was awarded to a student working under his direction. He strove to teach his students to think and to reason, as well as train them thoroughly in research methods.
Awarded to Graduate Students doing research in Medical Microbiology or to purchase specialized equipment to carry out such research.
Cardiology Research Fund
The cardiology service evaluates a variety of cardiopulmonary cases in multiple different species. These conditions include congenital cardiac malformations, acquired heart disease and pre-breeding screening for adult onset cardiomyopathies.
